Allow me to introduce you to who and what Mirror Dancer Ministries is. My name is Reverend Rebecca Whitfield, Reiki Master and Spiritual Life Coach. In the following few pages you will learn about the services I provide in the realm of alternative healing. You will find a listing of these on the page titled “Modalities” .
I began my search for a higher spirituality in my teenage years in Houston. I grew up in a traditional Methodist home with several uncles who were Southern Baptist ministers. Raised as a Christian, I first dedicated my life to Jesus Christ around the age of 13. However, the teachings I received left me asking more and more questions. This became a life long search for a better understanding of God, Jesus and what they meant to my life. I had always wanted to be a nurse: a healer and teacher. In my 20's I was brought into the Seventh Day Adventist faith and was content for a while and left when even they could not fulfill my thirst for more. I drifted from one thing to another, even delving into Wicca and Druid beliefs. By the time I reached my 40's, I still felt unfulfilled and I was still searching. It was in July of 1995 that I met my first Reiki Master, Gail Jane'. She held my hand and stated that she saw a healer's hand and began telling me about Reiki, and the healing energy of the Christ in all of us. I was hooked! Everything she told me fit in perfectly with all my Biblical training and somehow it all began to make sense. Gail invited me to receive what she called a treatment session to experience the healing power of Christ. After three such healings, I was ready to begin learning how to give treatments to others. I was on my way to becoming the person I always knew existed inside me: a healer and teacher. I have continued to grow as a Reiki practitioner and my growth in spirit has come far since that day in July. It is now time for me to share those teachings and blessings of spirit with others such as yourself.
In addition to Reiki, I also began studying Native American healing techniques such as sage cleansing and Medicine Wheels, along with herbal remedies. I also have studied chakras and their affect on the energy our bodies use. I am familiar with color therapy, aromatherapy, crystals, and pendulums. I have used spiritual guidance cards, which are similar to Tarot decks, to offer aide to myself and others who wish to stay on the path of enlightenment.
I have learned from many years of study that every path leads to the Creator, no matter what name you give him or her. My personal beliefs on this are not as important as helping others to find their path and aiding them in their walk. I honor all walks of life; none are more correct than another. All religions have wonderful teachings and ideology we can learn from. Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, the Great Spirit of Native American tribes, Aboriginal traditions, and Judaism are just a few of the realms of study I have gleaned wisdom from. I am learning all the time and will gladly assist you in your journey to find your calling from above and help guide you in life choices for enlightenment and peace.
